## Synopsis

The Lousy World (Świat według Kiepskich) is a Polish television sitcom that ran for an extraordinary run of seasons on Polsat, from 1999 to 2022. Set in a cramped old apartment on Ćwiartki street in Wrocław, it follows the Kiepski family, centered on Ferdynand Kiepski, a scheming father who keeps launching get-rich plans to escape his modest life. His long-suffering wife Halina and the neighboring Paździoch family, especially the rivalry and uneasy alliance with Marian Paździoch, drive many storylines. Each episode is a self-contained case of cheap ambition meeting bad luck, so the schemes collapse in predictable and absurd ways. The format is an episodic family sitcom with recurring characters and a steady cast of neighbors. The tone is breezy, sardonic and affectionate, a warm working class comedy at its heart. Its atmosphere is everyday Polish life, with shabby interiors and small disappointments, and fans of Married with Children and Everybody Loves Raymond will recognize its domestic squabbling and its lovable, hopeless patriarch.
