## Synopsis

Shadow Raiders (1998-1999) is a Canadian animated science fiction fantasy series created for YTV and produced with Mainframe Entertainment. Its two seasons of thirteen episodes each follow a cast of voice actors including Paul Dobson as the warrior Graveheart, Donna Yamamoto as Tekla, Garry Chalk as Emperor Femur, and Mark Oliver as King Cryos. The engine of the show is a fragile truce: four warring planets, Ice, Rock, Fire and Bone, have long been enemies, and now they must set aside generations of feuds to form an alliance. Their only hope rests on defeating the Beast Planet, a vast world that has entered their universe from the darkest reaches of space with the sole purpose of destroying other worlds. Each episode builds action around battles, shifting loyalties, and rival rulers who must learn to trust one another. Told in early three dimensional computer animation with a bold, colorful look, the series moves briskly and carries an adventurous, hopeful tone with a sense of urgency. Its shape is a compact, self-contained two season run with a continuing storyline rather than standalone adventures. Fans of Beast Wars: Transformers, ReBoot and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe will find a similar blend of animated spectacle and heroic alliance.
