## Synopsis

Janosik (1974) is a Polish national-television historical adventure series created by Jerzy Passendorfer and produced by Zespół Filmowy Panorama for TVP. Marek Perepeczko stars as Janosik, the legendary highlander outlaw of the Tatra mountains who steals money and goods from the wealthy and gives them to the poor. Bogusz Bilewski plays his loyal comrade Waluś Kwiczoł, while Witold Pyrkosz appears as the band member Jędruś Pyzdra, and Ewa Lemańska plays Maryna. Across thirteen hour-long episodes, the engine of the story is the cat-and-mouse conflict between the bandit brotherhood and the noble landowners and officials who hold the region in their grip. Each episode is built around a standalone scheme, pursuit, or rescue, with the outlaws outwitting authorities and aiding peasant families. The tone is rousing and playful, mixing swashbuckling action with warm camaraderie and a clear sense of justice. Set in the rural Podhale highlands of the Polish mountains, the series draws on regional folk legend and mountain atmosphere. Fans of Robin Hood and The Adventures of Robin Hood will find resonance in its populist heroism and outlaw spirit.
