## Synopsis

Tamako Market (2013) is a Japanese animated slice of life comedy produced by Kyoto Animation and broadcast on TOKYO MX and other Japanese networks. Follow Tamako Kitashirakawa (voiced by Aya Suzaki), a cheerful young girl in a family mochi shop, as her birthday brings an unexpected visitor: Dera Mochimazzi (voiced by Takumi Yamazaki), a talking bird who claims to be a royal court attendant searching for a bride for his master. Dera decides to stay, and the series follows the ordinary yet lively days of Tamako and her neighbors in a traditional shopping arcade. Her friends Shiori Asagiri (Yurie Yamashita) and Mochizo Oji (Atsushi Tamaru) add everyday romantic tension and gentle comedy as the group drifts through school life and shop routines. Built from small episodic moments rather than a driving plot, the twelve-episode season leans on warm neighborhood festivals, family meals and playful banter. The tone is cozy, sweet and hopeful, with a soft wistful edge about growing up. Fans of Non Non Biyori, Hyouka and The Cat Returns will find similar charm in this understated anime.
