## Synopsis

Zorro (1957-1959) is an American television western adventure series created for ABC and produced by Walt Disney Productions. Guy Williams stars as Don Diego de la Vega, a wealthy landowner's son who returns from studies in Spain to find Los Angeles under the rule of the cruel Capitan Monastario. Unable to confront the commandant's troops openly, Diego adopts the secret identity of Zorro, a sinister masked figure dressed in black who rides out to right wrongs. Gene Sheldon plays the comic servant Bernardo, and Henry Calvin plays Demetrio Lopez Garcia, the bumbling sergeant who keeps pursuing the masked rider. Each episode is built around a self-contained scheme of injustice in old California, with Zorro's sword duels, daring rides, and playful disguises driving the action across a run of seventy-eight episodes over two seasons. Set in the Spanish colonial Los Angeles of the old west, the series has a bright, breezy, family-friendly register, with swashbuckling bravado, comic misdirection, and a sense of mischievous justice. Fans of The Lone Ranger, Maverick, and The Adventures of Robin Hood will find resonance in its masked heroism, western flavor, and light-hearted adventure.
