## Synopsis

Destination Truth (2007-2012) is an American paranormal reality series created by Michael Mandt and Neil Mandt for Syfy. Host Josh Gates travels to remote corners of the globe to chase cryptids and unexplained claims, backed by a field team including Jael de Pardo, Jarrod Tomassi, Casey Brumels, Erin Ryder and Gabriel Copeland. The engine of each weekly forty-five minute episode is a concrete expedition: the team arrives at a location tied to a local legend, interviews witnesses, sets up night vigils with thermal cameras, audio recorders and bait, and follows up on every strange sound or sighting in the dark. The format runs five seasons across fifty-five episodes, presented as a continuing series of standalone investigations rather than a single story. Gates is earnest and self-deprecating, so the mood stays curious and tense rather than cynical, with long stretches of waiting in jungles, deserts and forests punctuated by sudden unexplained events. The series is set in the present day and will appeal to viewers who enjoy ghost hunting shows, cryptid documentaries and travel adventure. Fans of Ghost Adventures, MonsterQuest and Expedition Unknown will find a similar blend of field investigation and paranormal speculation here.
