## Synopsis

What If? (2011-2017) is a Flemish-language Belgian sketch comedy series created by Tim van Aelst and broadcast on VTM and Q2. Running three seasons and thirty roughly twenty-five-minute episodes, it is built from standalone sketches, each opening with the question 'what if' and then following an imagined alternate version of ordinary life. The engine is the premise itself: a small everyday situation is pushed sideways into a heightened, plausible or absurd reality, and the performers shift quickly between characters from one bit to the next. Ben Segers, Bruno Vanden Broecke, Ruth Beeckmans, Günther Lesage and Bert Haelvoet are among the recurring ensemble, each playing a wide range of roles rather than a single fixed persona. The tone is playful, brisk and observational, with a mood that is light and breezy rather than cutting. Because every sketch stands alone, the show works as an anthology of vignettes that rewards dipping in at any point. Fans of Little Britain and Monty Python's Flying Circus will find a kindred delight in its quick, character-driven absurdity, while viewers wanting Belgian comedy will find a distinctly Flemish take on everyday life.
