## Synopsis

The Pet Girl of Sakurasou (2012-2013) is a Japanese anime slice of life comedy-drama series created for TOKYO MX and produced by J.C.STAFF, adapted from a light novel. Sorata Kanda, voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, is an ordinary high school sophomore who has sworn to escape Sakurasou, the dormitory housing his academy's problem children. He is repeatedly dragged into the orbit of its eccentric residents, including the gifted, reclusive artist Mashiro Shiina (Ai Kayano), whose talent and temperament keep pulling him back in. Other principal voices such as Nanami Aoyama (Mari Nakatsu) and Misaki Kamiigusa (Natsumi Takamori) add to the ensemble. The engine of the series is Sorata's reluctant involvement in his housemates' creative ambitions, from drawing and writing to game development, with each episode built around deadlines, rivalries and small personal breakthroughs in a single-season run of twenty-four episodes. The tone is warm, awkward and playfully funny, with a steady undercurrent of coming of age and a slow-building romance. Set in contemporary Japan within a cramped dormitory and its school, the show feels like an intimate ensemble comedy. Fans of Nodame Cantabile, K-On! and Hibike! Euphonium will find similar resonance in its artistic community and gentle humor.
