## Synopsis

Police Rescue (1991-1996) is an Australian television drama created for ABC TV, a co-production involving the BBC, following the New South Wales Police Rescue Squad in Sydney. The series centers on its rescue officers, among them Steve 'Mickey' McClintock (Gary Sweet), Yiannis 'Angel' Angelopoulos (Steve Bastoni), Anastasia Skouras (Ada Nicodemou) and Inspector Bill Adams (John Clayton), whose work takes them from the scene of road accidents to train crashes and other sudden emergencies. Each episode is built around an incident that the squad must reach, assess and resolve under time pressure, with the physical danger of extraction work and the ever-present strain on the team driving the drama. Across five seasons and sixty-one episodes, the show alternates between tense callouts and quieter stretches in the station, where friendships and rivalries develop among the crew. The tone is grounded and unglamorized, with an earnest, workmanlike register that favors procedure and camaraderie over spectacle. Its Sydney setting gives the series a distinct local texture. Fans of Emergency!, Rescue 911 and Third Watch will find a similar pull toward dedicated first responders confronting disaster week after week.
