## Synopsis

Star-Crossed (2014) is an American science fiction romance series created by Meredith Averill and broadcast on The CW. Aimee Teegarden plays Emery Whitehill, a suburban high school girl whose life changes when Matt Lanter's Roman, one of the Orion 9 alien teenagers, arrives at her school. Grey Damon's Grayson Montrose and Greg Finley's Drake round out the principal cast. The engine of the show is a forbidden romance tangled in politics: the aliens were landed on Earth and held in an internment camp for a decade before being integrated into ordinary classrooms, and every stolen glance and secret meeting carries the risk of exposure and unrest between the two peoples. Each episode mixes teen dating drama, school hallway friction and a growing political conflict around the newcomers, in a single thirteen-episode season. The mood is earnest, romantic and somewhat melancholic, with a sense of prejudice and longing running beneath the high school routines. It is a one-season, canceled CW series that will appeal to viewers who enjoy the star-crossed intensity of Roswell and the outsider allegory of District 9, as well as fans of classic Romeo and Juliet style doomed love.
