## Synopsis

Don't Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves (2012) is a Swedish national-television drama miniseries created by Simon Kaijser da Silva for SVT1. Adapted from Jonas Gardell's novel Love, this three-episode limited series follows Paul (Simon J. Berger) and Rasmus (Adam Pålsson) as their relationship unfolds while the AIDS epidemic tears through Stockholm's gay community in the 1980s. Friends and lovers fall ill one after another, and the people around them struggle to care for the dying while facing fear, stigma, and the coldness of families who refuse to accept them. Benjamin (Adam Lundgren) and Seppo (Emil Almén) help widen the circle of friendship and loss, while a narrating voice (Björn Kjellman) gives the story its reflective shape. The engine is simple and painful: love must hold up against sickness, prejudice, and the slow erosion of a community that has nowhere to turn. Each episode is built from intimate domestic scenes, hospital corridors, and quiet confrontations at family dinners. The tone is elegiac and tender, with moments of warmth and defiance threaded through deep sorrow. Fans of And the Band Played On, It's a Sin and Pose will find resonance in its portrait of love, grief, and resilience during an era of fear.
