## Synopsis

Man Down is a British Channel 4 sitcom created by and starring Greg Davies as Dan, a childish man trapped in an adult's life whose world is quietly collapsing. His girlfriend Naomi runs out of patience with his inability to handle the simplest everyday tasks, while his listless career as a schoolteacher has him repeating the same lessons to pupils who inexplicably adore him. His one steady ally is the headmistress Miss Lipsey, who regards him with a mix of pity and despair. Tormenting him at every turn is his willfully insane father, played by Rik Mayall, whose apparent mission is to humiliate his son. Across four series of short episodes, the show builds its comedy from awkward social moments, escalating family indignities and a steady run of failed adult responsibilities. The tone is cringe-heavy, deadpan and sharply observed, with a wry affection for its hapless lead. Viewers who enjoy The Office, Peep Show and Fawlty Towers will find resonance in its blend of embarrassment, dry British humour and characters who never quite get their lives in order.
