## Synopsis

Sesame Street (1969-present) is an American public television children's series created by Lloyd Morrisett, Joan Ganz Cooney and Jim Henson for PBS and later HBO and Netflix. Set on a special inner city street, the show follows a shifting ensemble of human residents and Muppet characters, including Bert, Maria, Gordon, Bob and Oscar the Grouch, who form a neighborhood community. Its engine is simple and steady: each episode puts a small problem or curiosity in front of the characters, and comedy sketches, cartoons, games and songs turn it into a lesson in letters, numbers and social skills. Across decades and thousands of episodes, the series works as a cumulative daily ritual rather than one continuing plot. Its tone is gentle, playful and warm, with a steady undercurrent of kindness and inclusion. Fans of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Blue's Clues and The Muppet Show will find the same blend of puppetry, sincerity and humor aimed squarely at small children.
