## Synopsis

Walking with Monsters (2005) is a British miniseries documentary created by Chloë Leland and produced by Impossible Pictures for BBC Three. Narrated by Kenneth Branagh, the three half-hour episodes trace nearly 300 million years of life on Earth, from the Cambrian Period about 530 million years ago through the Early Triassic about 248 million years ago. Instead of dinosaurs, the focus falls on the stranger creatures of the Paleozoic: giant arthropods, early fish, amphibians and the synapsids and reptiles that came after them. Each episode is built around reconstructed animals moving through their ancient habitats, with computer-generated effects bringing extinct bodies to life against carefully imagined landscapes. The mood is awe-struck and curious rather than dramatic, with the narration guiding viewers through evolutionary milestones in a measured, wondering register. It works as a companion to Walking with Dinosaurs and carries the same spirit of natural history spectacle. Fans of Walking with Dinosaurs, Planet Earth and Prehistoric Park will find resonance in its blend of science, scale and visual wonder. The short run makes it an easy one-sitting watch for anyone curious about prehistoric life.
