## Synopsis

Once Upon a Time... The Americas (1992-1993) is a French animated educational series created by Albert Barillé for Canal+. Voiced by Roger Carel as Maestro, Olivier Destrez as Pierrot and Sady Rebbot as Petit Gros, a cast of sympathetic cartoon heroes travels across the centuries of the continent. Each of the series' 26 episodes of about twenty-six minutes follows the group as they step into a different moment, from the first inhabitants of the Americas through the Aztec and Inca civilizations, the arrival of the conquistadors, the war of independence and the gold rush. The engine of the show is curiosity: the heroes meet real people from each period and the stories are built to explain how events unfolded. It is a single-season, self-contained run in which every episode can be watched on its own. The tone is warm, gentle and earnest, with light adventure and humor keeping the lessons accessible to young viewers. Fans of Once Upon a Time... Man and Horrible Histories will find the same blend of history and cartoon charm, suited to family viewing and classroom curiosity alike.
