## Synopsis

Batman Beyond (1999-2001) is an American animated superhero series created for The WB and Cartoon Network, part of the DC Animated Universe. Terry McGinnis (voice of Will Friedle) is a troubled teenager in a futuristic Gotham City overrun by new high-tech villains, and when he stumbles on the secret of the aging Bruce Wayne (voice of Kevin Conroy), he forges an uneasy alliance with the retired Dark Knight and takes up the cape himself. Commissioner Barbara Gordon (voice of Stockard Channing) and Max Gibson (voice of Cree Summer) add principal support. The three-season run of episodes is built on case-of-the-week villain battles that gradually feed a continuing story about legacy and responsibility. The cyberpunk city of neon skyscrapers and gadgets gives the show a sleek, brooding atmosphere, while its tone stays sincere, hopeful and action-driven. Fans of Batman: The Animated Series and Spider-Man: The New Animated Series will find resonance in its blend of superhero spectacle and coming-of-age drama.
