## Synopsis

Les Bougon, c'est aussi ça la vie ! (2004-2006) is a Quebec French-language comedy series created by François Avard and broadcast on ICI Radio-Canada Télé. The show follows the Bougon, a large, boisterous family of scoundrels led by patriarch Paul Bougon (Rémy Girard), alongside Mao Bougon (Rosalee Jacques), Rita Bougon (Louison Danis) and Frédéric Bougon (Claude Laroche). Their engine is simple and funny: the family constantly hatches new scams to avoid honest work and stay clear of the system, and each episode turns on another improvised plan that is bound to go sideways. The series runs three seasons and fifty half-hour episodes, a continuing sitcom in which the characters' relationships carry the stories from one installment to the next. Its setting is contemporary Quebec, among working class and marginal communities rather than respectable society. The tone is coarse, irreverent and affectionate, with the bickering warmth of a family that is dirty and grouchy yet deeply loyal to one another. Fans of Shameless, Married with Children and The Royle Family will find the same mix of vulgar humor and tender family bond.
