## Synopsis

Stargate Universe (2009-2011) is a US science fiction survival series created by Robert C. Cooper and Brad Wright for Syfy, spun out of the Stargate franchise. Robert Carlyle plays scientist Nicholas Rush, a brilliant and guarded figure whose knowledge of the ancient vessel Destiny makes him both essential and suspect, while Louis Ferreira plays Everett Young, the military officer responsible for keeping the stranded crew alive. David Blue as Eli Wallace, a gifted young tech, and Alaina Huffman as Tamara Johansen round out the principal group. The engine of the show is a multinational expedition trying to find a way back to Earth while every episode confronts a new threat aboard the ship or on unfamiliar worlds across an unknown corner of the universe. Stories unfold across two seasons of forty episodes in a serialized format where ongoing mysteries about the ship and rising social conflict drive the plot. The atmosphere is tense, claustrophobic and uncertain, with ensemble chemistry and moral friction carrying the drama. Set aboard a far-future starship many billions of light years from the Milky Way, it appeals to viewers who enjoy Battlestar Galactica, Lost and the Stargate shows, and fans of stranded crew survival stories will find resonance in its slow-building mysteries and character drama.
