## Synopsis

BraveStarr (1987-1988) is an American syndicated animated space western created by Peter Locke and Donald Kushner for syndication, produced by Filmation Associates and Group W Productions. Marshall Bravestarr, a sheriff with supernatural abilities, is the protector of New Texas, a frontier planet where futuristic settlements carry the look and rough manners of the Old West. Voiced by Pat Fraley, Bravestarr is joined by his deputy Fuzz, voiced by Charlie Adler, and works against outlaws such as Diamondback, voiced by Alan Oppenheimer. Each episode is a self-contained case of the week in which the lawman tracks bandits and schemers across dusty towns and open ranges under a bright alien sky. The series runs for one season of sixty-five episodes, with a steady rhythm of chases, standoffs and frontier showdowns. Its tone is earnest, bright and action-forward, with a whimsical streak typical of 1980s children's animation. Fans of Cowboy Bebop, Firefly and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe will find a similar blend of genre play, heroic myth and space-age adventure.
