## Synopsis

Stairway to Heaven (2003-2004) is a South Korean melodrama series created for SBS and aired as a single 20-episode season. Song Ju (Kwon Sang-woo) and Jeong Seo (Choi Ji-woo), who lost their parents young, grow up together like real siblings, with Song Ju always there when she feels lonely. When Jeong Seo's father remarries, his new wife Tae Mi Ra (Lee Hwi-hyang) and her daughter Yu Ri (Kim Tae-hee) begin harassing her out of jealousy, and the story's emotional engine is the tug between loyal devotion and the obstacles placed in its path. Tae Hwa (Shin Hyun-jun), Yu Ri's rough and wild older brother, is drawn to the pure and kind Jeong Seo, creating a romantic rivalry that deepens each episode. Set in contemporary Seoul among well-off families and their privileges, the series unfolds through the classic Korean drama rhythm of long glances, rain-soaked farewells and sudden reunions. Its tone is wistful, aching and melancholic, with a strong sense of destiny shaping every choice. Viewers who loved Winter Sonata and Autumn in My Heart, or the lush family rivalries of Boys Over Flowers, will find the same emotional pull here. The single season gives the romance a complete, self-contained arc that rewards patient viewing.
