## Synopsis

Solitary Gourmet (2012-2026) is a Japanese slice of life food series that aired on TV Tokyo, following a solitary salesman, Goro Inogashira (Yutaka Matsushige), as he travels the country on business and stops to eat at modest local establishments. Narration by Tomoki Uekusa threads his inner thoughts through each meal, and the engine of every episode is simple: he arrives in a town, searches for a restaurant, orders a regional dish, and savors it in close, unhurried detail. The series runs across eleven seasons of twelve episodes each, a long episodic format where each installment stands on its own rather than building a continuing plot. Its register is gentle, wistful and comforting, with a quiet pleasure in ordinary eateries, regional specialties and the small rituals of dining alone. Set in contemporary Japan, it foregrounds the country's local cuisine rather than luxury dining, and its tone recalls the intimate meal-centered calm of Midnight Diner and the travel-and-appetite curiosity of Parts Unknown. Fans of cozy culinary travel will find it a soothing companion for a late evening.
