## Synopsis

Mortified (2006-2007) is an Australian family comedy series created by Angela Webber for the Nine Network. Aimed at tweens and young teens, it follows Taylor Fry (Marny Kennedy), a girl on the brink of adolescence who is juggling a changing body, a flood of hormones and relentless judgement from her peers. Her best friend Brittany Flune (Maia Mitchell) and a classmate, Hector Garcia (Nicolas Dunn), add to the everyday sting and sweetness of school life, while Taylor's family at home, including her mother Glenda Fry (Rachel Blakely) and father Don Fry (Andrew Blackman), keeps the household chaos rolling. The engine of each twenty-three minute episode is a small social disaster, a crush that may or may not be returned, or a moment of embarrassment that feels enormous at that age. Across two seasons of thirteen episodes each, the show stays light and warm, mixing slapstick, quick dialogue and an overactive imagination with a steady emotional core. The tone is gentle, breezy and affectionate toward its characters, with a sincere eye for the awkwardness of growing up. Fans of Dance Academy, H2O: Just Add Water and Wizards of Waverly Place will find a similar pleasure in youthful friendship and comic adolescent embarrassment.
