## Synopsis

Princess Hours (2006) is a South Korean MBC romantic comedy-drama created by Park So-hee, a single-season k-drama of twenty-four episodes, each about an hour long. Shin Chae-kyeong (Yoon Eun-hye) is a blunt, carefree high school girl whose ordinary life collapses when she learns that her grandfather promised her hand in marriage to the nation's crown prince. Crown Prince Lee Shin (Ju Ji-hoon) is a reserved heir bound by rigid court protocol, and the two are forced into cohabitation inside the imperial palace, where Min Hyo-rin (Song Ji-hyo) and Prince Yul (Kim Jeong-hoon) complicate every step toward affection. The engine of the story is the collision between the heroine's impulsiveness and the suffocating etiquette of the royal household, with each episode built from palace intrigue, misunderstandings, and class friction. Set in a contemporary-styled fantasy version of a Korean royal court, the series mixes light farce with yearning romance and a wistful, sometimes melodramatic register. Its rich man poor woman dynamic and love triangle hooks will appeal to viewers who enjoy the playful tone of Boys Over Flowers and the period romance of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Fans of those shows will find a similar blend of sparkling chemistry and royal-court spectacle here.
