## Synopsis

Wanees's Diaries (1994-2014) is an Egyptian family sitcom created by Mohamed Sobhi for ART Hekayat, an arabic-language family comedy spanning eight seasons and 304 episodes. Mohamed Sobhi plays Wanees, a proud father who wants the best for his four children, opposite Souad Nasr as Maysa, his wife and partner in the household. Gamil Ratib appears as Abu Al Fadl, and Reem Ahmed plays Huda among the younger family members. Each episode is a self-contained half hour built from the everyday moments of a household: lessons about right and wrong, small disputes between siblings, and the parents' attempts to guide their children through ordinary situations. The engine of the show is the gentle comic friction of raising children, with the parents discovering along the way that they are learning as much as they teach. Episodes stay light and episodic, shaped more by recurring family relationships than by a single continuing plot. Set in contemporary Egypt, the series carries the warmth of arab domestic life, multigenerational households, and a comforting, wholesome register. Fans of The Cosby Show, Full House and Eight Is Enough will find similar pleasure in its domestic comedy and moral warmth.
