## Synopsis

The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns (1999) is a two-part American fantasy miniseries created by Peter Barnes for NBC. Set in a land of Celtic myth and magic, it follows Jack Woods (Randy Quaid), an envoy appointed to restore harmony between the leprechauns and the trooping fairies. The story is kicked off by a forbidden love affair that ignites an ancient war between the two peoples, and Woods must navigate rival courts, scheming nobles and wary creatures while peace hangs in the balance. Principal performers include Kevin McKidd as Jericho O'Grady, Tony Curran as Sean Devine, Whoopi Goldberg as The Grand Banshee, and Roger Daltrey as King Boric, with Harriet Walter as Queen Morag adding regal weight. Across its two long episodes, the miniseries plays as an earnest, sweeping family fantasy: romance, political maneuvering and folkloric spectacle are woven into a warm, adventurous register with a touch of melancholy. Its fairy-tale atmosphere, rooted in Irish legend, will appeal to viewers who enjoy the sincere mythic storytelling of Merlin and Legend, and fans of gentle creature fantasies will find familiar pleasures in its enchanted countryside, its banshees and its ancient grudges.
