## Synopsis

The Tunnel (2013-2018) is a French-British co-produced crime drama series created by Ben Richards for Sky Atlantic and Canal+. Stephen Dillane plays British detective Karl Roebuck, and Clémence Poésy plays French detective Élise Wassermann, two investigators whose jurisdictions and temperaments clash as they are forced to work together. Their engine is a hunt for a serial killer who leaves the body halves of a French politician and a British prostitute at the midpoint of the Channel Tunnel, a murderer nicknamed the Truth Terrorist who believes his killings expose social failings in both countries. Each season builds a tense, layered investigation with political pressure, bureaucratic friction and personal fractures pulling at the detectives alongside the case. Thibault de Montalembert and Tobi Bakare join the principal cast as the wider investigation widens. Across three seasons and twenty-four episodes, the show moves through rain-washed ports, police stations and cross-border meetings with a cold, somber atmosphere. Fans of The Bridge, Broadchurch and Happy Valley will find resonance in its dark, morally charged, border-crossing crime storytelling.
