## Synopsis

Baki the Grappler (2001) is a Japanese animated martial arts series adapted from the manga by Keisuke Itagaki, produced by Group TAC and broadcast on TV Tokyo. Its protagonist is Baki Hanma, voiced by Masami Kikuchi, a young fighter who yearns to follow in the footsteps of his father, Yujiro, and become the strongest fighter in the world. Supporting characters include Kōshō Shinogi, voiced by Kazuhiro Nakata, and Kozue Matsumoto, voiced by Sachiko Kojima, who orbit his relentless quest. Each episode is built around intense one-on-one bouts, and the engine of the story is Baki's constant training and fighting, with every battle sharpening his skills and pushing his body further toward the goal of taking the title of King from his father. The two seasons across forty-eight episodes unfold as a continuing ladder of increasingly dangerous opponents rather than standalone stories. The tone is heated and bombastic, with exaggerated physicality, grim intensity and a driving sense of ambition. Fans of Hajime no Ippo, Kengan Ashura and Fist of the North Star will find resonance in its blend of brutal combat, rivalry and muscular spectacle.
