## Synopsis

Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds (1981-1982) is a Spanish-Japanese animated adventure series created by Claudio Biern Boyd and produced with Nippon Animation, a single-season miniseries of 26 episodes. Loosely drawn from the classic musketeer tradition, it follows Dogtanian, an impetuous and innocent peasant from Gascony who is also a skilled swordsman. His ambition is to travel to Paris and join the Corps of Muskehounds of the Royal Guard, and each episode puts that dream against the schemes and hardships of the French court. Voice cast includes Eduardo Jover as Dogtanian, Gloria Cámara as Juliet, Manuel Peiró as Dogos, and Jesús Nieto as Pontos, with Rafael de Penagos voicing Cardinal Richelieu. The setting is seventeenth century France under Louis XIII, rendered in bright, gentle cartoon style. Its tone is earnest, breezy and wholesome, with sword duels and playful camaraderie. Fans of classic animated musketeer adventures and family swashbuckling cartoons will find resonance here.
