## Synopsis

Profugos (2011-2013) is a Chilean crime drama series created by Pablo Illanes for HBO Latin America. Four men become fugitives after a failed drug deal and flee from the north of Chile toward the south, with the protagonist Vicente Ferragut played by Nestor Cantillana and his companion Alvaro 'Tegui' Parraguez played by Benjamin Vicuna at the center of the chase. Their engine is simple and relentless: they want to get clear of the police and the criminals who want them dead, and every stop along the highway brings new danger, old loyalties, and the strain of living under false names. Alfredo Castro, Luis Gnecco, and Aline Kuppenheim fill out the principal cast as family, associates, and people who become entangled in the flight. The two seasons, thirteen episodes each, form one continuing serialized story in which the journey itself shapes every episode. The tone is tense, gritty, and morally bruised, with an atmosphere of dust, rain, and dread along the Chilean landscape. Fans of Breaking Bad, Narcos, and Fargo will find resonance in its desperate criminals, unforgiving crime world, and the way one bad choice snowballs into a country-wide manhunt.
