## Synopsis

Inside the American Mob (2013) is a six-episode American true crime docuseries from National Geographic, a limited series that delves into the secret underworld of the American Mafia. Rather than following actors, it lets the criminals who lived it and the law enforcers who hunted them carry the story. Former mobsters, informants and FBI agents speak directly to the camera, including Sal Polisi appearing as himself, while figures such as mob underboss Sonny Franzese and Michael Franzese are discussed in their real-life roles and Joe Pistone, known as Donnie Brasco, is recalled through his undercover work. Each hour builds toward the takedown of one of the deadliest and most infamous organized crime rings in U.S. history. Recently declassified federal files, rare archival footage and dramatic reconstructions give the material a documentary weight that feels raw, violent and morally grim. The tone is sober and investigative, with the corruption and bloodshed of decades of gangland rule laid bare. Viewers who enjoy the mob chronicles of The Sons of Sam or the period crime atmosphere of Boardwalk Empire will find a similar appetite for hard facts and firsthand accounts. It suits anyone drawn to true crime, American history, or the gritty mechanics of organized crime.
