## Synopsis

Cutthroat Kitchen (2013-2017) is an American Food Network reality cooking competition created for television and hosted by Alton Brown. Four chefs each start with $25,000 and can spend it on sabotaging their rivals or helping themselves, so the contest turns on stolen ingredients, destroyed utensils and time stolen off the clock. The engine of every episode is the tension between cooking a dish worth eating and outplotting the competition with well-timed purchases. Guest judges such as Simon Majumdar, Antonia Lofaso and Jet Tila appear across the run to taste the results, and the show spans fifteen seasons of roughly thirteen episodes each. Brown plays the devilish provocateur who sets the rules and keeps nothing off limits when money changes hands. The tone is playful and competitive, with a breezy, mischievous energy that rewards viewers who enjoy strategy as much as food. Fans of Chopped and Iron Chef America will find the same kitchen pressure here, with an added layer of gleeful sabotage in the vein of Survivor-style game play. It suits anyone who likes cooking shows with a wicked streak and a host who delights in chaos.
