## Synopsis

Blood Lad (2013) is a Japanese seinen anime series created for Teletama and tvk, adapted from the manga and produced by Brain's Base. Staz, a vampire from the surreal Demon World, is the central figure, paired with Fuyumi, an ordinary human girl who stumbles through a portal into his realm. After Fuyumi is killed by a carnivorous plant and returns as a ghost, Staz feels responsible and sets out to bring her back to life, and the quest keeps pulling them into strange demonic encounters. Across ten short episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, the show is built from episodic misadventures in which bizarre monsters, rival demons and absurd creatures test the odd partnership. Its tone is irreverent and dark, mixing gory slapstick with offbeat affection and a cheerful disregard for death and undeath. Fans of Hellsing Ultimate, Devil Is a Part-Timer! and Shiki will find a similar blend of supernatural mayhem and playful bite. The series has a modest audience reception and suits viewers who want a quick, cheeky supernatural anime with a seinen edge.
