## Synopsis

The Musketeers (2014-2016) is a British period adventure series created by Adrian Hodges for BBC One and BBC America. Set in seventeenth century Paris, it follows the elite musketeers Athos (Tom Burke), Porthos (Howard Charles) and Aramis (Santiago Cabrera) as they are joined by the ambitious young D'Artagnan (Luke Pasqualino). Their guard duty and sword work are constantly tangled with the scheming of Cardinal Richelieu (Peter Capaldi) and the weak, manipulative King Louis (Ryan Gage). Across three seasons of ten episodes each, the show is a serialized costume drama in which each episode mixes palace intrigue, duels, and courtly plots with a steady current of loyalty and personal risk. The tone is rousing and warm, with sword fights, romance and a strong sense of brotherhood at its core. Fans of The Three Musketeers, Reign and The Tudors will find resonance in its sumptuous period costume, its swagger and its court politics. Its 30 episodes of hour-long adventure make it an easy binge for lovers of heroic period television.
