## Synopsis

Por Tu Amor (1999) is a Mexican telenovela created by Caridad Bravo Adams and produced by Televisa for Las Estrellas. The story follows María del Cielo Montalvo, a beautiful and principled young woman in the small coastal town of San Carlos, who is already engaged to her lifelong boyfriend, Dr. Sergio Zambrano. Into this quiet life arrives Marco Durán, a wealthy and handsome businessman who wants to consolidate his holdings in the area and escape his obsessive ex-girlfriend, Miranda Narváez. Marco falls in love with Cielo at first sight and proposes almost immediately, but she sees him as one more rich man poisoning the town with his money and openly despises him. The engine of the series is this clash of pride, class and desire, carried through a single 90-episode run of family rivalries, rival suitors and social pressure that unfolds in the daily rhythm of a melodramatic soap. Fans of Rubí, La usurpadora and Yo soy Betty, la fea will find resonance in its heightened emotions, rich-versus-poor romance and sweeping sentiment. The tone is passionate, sentimental and dramatic, with an atmosphere of small-town gossip, longing and wounded pride throughout.
