## Synopsis

Doña Bárbara (2008-2009) is a Spanish-language telenovela created by Mauricio Cruz and Agustín Restrepo for Telemundo, a United States network production adapted from Rómulo Gallegos's 1929 Venezuelan novel. Edith González plays the imperious landowner La doña, whose grip on her vast frontier ranch is tested as outsiders arrive and old loyalties fray. Christian Meier stars as Santos, a figure caught between desire and duty, while Genesis Rodriguez plays Maricela, a young woman whose fate is entangled with the estate's power struggles.
