## Synopsis

What Life Took From Me (2013-2014) is a Mexican telenovela created by Caridad Bravo Adams for Las Estrellas, a single-season run of 197 forty-five-minute episodes. Beautiful young Montserrat Mendoza (Angelique Boyer) agrees to marry a man she does not love in order to save her family from financial ruin and protect their social standing. Her husband Alejandro Almonte (Sebastián Rulli) sits at the center of the emotional tangle, while Graciela Giacinti de Mendoza (Daniela Castro) guards the family's pride and Pedro Medina (Sergio Sendel) complicates every loyalty. The engine is daily reversal: secrets, rival suitors, class resentment, and stubborn duty keep pushing Montserrat between obligation and the love she was told to abandon. Each episode hinges on a fresh confrontation or misunderstanding in lavish household settings. The mood is melodramatic, earnest, and emotionally heightened, with sweeping sorrow and romantic longing. Fans of Cuna de lobos, Rosalinda and Betty la fea will find resonance in its soapy romance, class anxieties and long-form serial drama.
