## Synopsis

Tres Caínes (2013) is a Colombian national-television war drama series created by Gustavo Bolívar for RCN and RTI Televisión. Following the Castaño Gil family, a wealthy cattle-ranching clan, the story centers on brothers Fidel (Gregorio Pernía), Vicente (Elkin Díaz) and Carlos (Julián Román), who react to their patriarch's kidnapping and murder by guerrillas by forming a self-defense army. Their engine is a grief-fueled campaign of vengeance against the insurgents, complicated by rivalries, shifting loyalties and the costs of arming private men in a country already split by conflict. Each of its eighty episodes builds on the brothers' decisions, with family members around them, including Luis Fernando Múnera as Jesús Castaño Gil and Luz Stella Luengas as Rosa de Castaño, tracking the human fallout at home. Shaped as a single continuous story rather than a case-of-the-week format, the series moves through rural ranch life and the armed frontier of late twentieth-century Colombia. Its tone is harrowing and tense, with a brooding, paranoid undercurrent and a steady sense of dread. Viewers drawn to Narcos, Gomorrah and dynastic crime sagas will find the same blend of family loyalty, violence and political tragedy.
