## Synopsis

Bering Sea Gold (2012-present) is a United States reality docuseries broadcast on Discovery, following crews of independent gold miners in the frontier town of Nome, Alaska. Rather than panning creeks or digging hillsides, the crews dive and dredge the frigid, unpredictable bottom of the Bering Sea, where the precious metal settles out of reach. The engine of each episode is the gamble itself: crews invest in expensive equipment and cold-water dives, with no guarantee the season will pay off, and every haul or empty day carries real financial risk. Principal figures include Shawn Pomrenke, Steve Pomrenke, Emily Riedel and Vernon Adkison, with Ken Kerr appearing as owner of Arctic Sea and Arctic Gold. The show has run for nineteen seasons and more than two hundred episodes, making it a long-running observational series rather than a single arc. Its tone mixes gritty endurance with rivalry, friction and camaraderie between competing crews, and its atmosphere is cold, windswept and isolated. Viewers who enjoy the rugged work and competitive edge of Deadliest Catch or Gold Rush will find resonance here, along with fans of Ice Road Truckers and frontier-set labor documentaries.
