## Synopsis

Helix (2014-2015) is a Canadian-American science fiction thriller series created by Ronald D. Moore and Cameron Porsandeh for Syfy. Billy Campbell plays Dr. Alan Farragut, a Centers for Disease Control scientist who travels with a small team, including Jordan Hayes as Dr. Sarah Jordan and Mark Ghanimé as Major Sergio Balleseros, to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak. Their investigation quickly becomes a life-and-death struggle inside the isolated compound, where every lab result and locked door hints at secrets the staff would rather keep. The engine of the show is the tension between containing a deadly pathogen and chasing a discovery that could extend human life, with each episode built around dwindling trust, sealed corridors, and scientists forced to choose who to save. Across two seasons of thirteen episodes each, the series stays a single serialized story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in a contemporary Arctic research outpost, it is a tense, claustrophobic thriller with a paranoid, dread-filled atmosphere. Fans of The Andromeda Strain, Fringe and The Thing will find resonance in its blend of outbreak anxiety, scientific intrigue, and isolation. The series was canceled after its second season.
