## Synopsis

The Michael J. Fox Show (2013-2014) is a single-camera family sitcom created by Will Gluck and Sam Laybourne for NBC. Michael J. Fox stars as Mike Henry, a beloved New York news anchor who stepped away from the anchor desk to care for his family after a Parkinson's diagnosis. Betsy Brandt plays his wife Annie, and Wendell Pierce plays his former boss Harris Green, who wants Mike back on television and must make it seem like Mike's own idea. The engine of the show is a comic scheme: the family, impatient to see him out of the house, arranges accidental encounters while Mike juggles home, children and a restless return to work. Each twenty-two-minute episode is built from everyday household friction and newsroom politics, with the kids growing up around him. The show runs one season and a single season of twenty-two episodes on NBC. Its tone is warm and breezy, with comedy that treats illness with levity and family loyalty with affection. Fans of Spin City, Modern Family and Murphy Brown will find resonance in its mix of workplace rivalry and domestic comedy set in modern Manhattan.
