## Synopsis

Wipeout (2008-2014) is an American reality competition created by Scott Larsen and Matt Kunitz for ABC. Twenty-four thrill-seekers race across the world's largest extreme obstacle course, a sprawling run of swinging, spinning and tumbling hazards built to produce the biggest spills, face plants and mud splashes ever filmed. Hosts John Henson and John K. Anderson guide the action, while co-host Jill Wagner adds commentary as contestants attempt each course and try to make it through to the end. The engine of each episode is simple: competitors push for a clean run and a prize, and the course keeps knocking them down in increasingly elaborate ways. Across seven seasons the format stays a steady, episodic competition with a fresh set of contestants and new obstacle designs in each run. The tone is light, breezy and comic, with the emphasis on physical slapstick and crowd-pleasing failure rather than danger. Fans of American Gladiators, Total Wipeout and Survivor will find a similar appeal in its mix of athletic spectacle, elimination and playful commentary, making it an easy, cheerful choice for a family viewing night or an undemanding weekly watch.
