## Synopsis

The Ray Bradbury Theater (1985-1992) is a Canadian-produced fantastic anthology series created by Ray Bradbury for USA Network and HBO. Bradbury himself introduces each self-contained episode as host, appearing as himself in the framing segments that open all sixty-five installments across six seasons. Most teleplays adapt his own novels and short stories, so each hour turns on an ordinary person confronting something strange: a bargain with a stranger, a shift in memory, a visitor who should not exist. Guest performers such as David Carradine, Jean Stapleton and David Ogden Stiers appear in individual stories rather than recurring roles, giving the show a rotating ensemble. The engine of each episode is a single premise carried to its emotional conclusion, usually about mortality, loneliness, or the cost of wanting something too much. The tone is wistful and uncanny, more melancholy than frightening, with a literary, storytelling sensibility. Fans of The Twilight Zone, Tales from the Darkside and Night Gallery will find resonance in its eerie, morally tinged vignettes and its author-driven sense of wonder.
