## Synopsis

Men of Anjolos (1997) is an Iranian national-television historical drama series created by Farajollah Salahshoor for IRIB TV1. Told across a single season of twenty-eight hour-long episodes, it follows six Roman nobles and a sheepman who abandon their privileges after embracing Christianity and retreat from persecution into a cave. Maximilian (Jafar Dehghan), Decius (Jahanbakhsh Soltani), Helen (Mahtab Keramati) and Julius (Hossein Yari) anchor the drama, with the faithful group's flight and shelter forming the emotional core of each episode. The engine of the story is the tension between devotion and the pressure of an empire hunting dissenters, with the cave serving as a sanctuary and a place of waiting. The tone is devout, contemplative and wistful, with a quiet emphasis on endurance and hope rather than action. Set in the Roman era, the series unfolds across an imagined span of centuries, with its core arc about the long sleep and the world that awakens around the sleepers. Its mythic register and moral clarity will appeal to viewers who enjoy religious parables and historical period drama, and fans of The Chosen and The Prophet will find resonance in its devotional seriousness and classical sweep.
