## Synopsis

Okupas (2000) is an Argentine crime drama miniseries created by Bruno Stagnaro and produced by Ideas del Sur for Televisión Pública Argentina. Over eleven episodes of roughly forty minutes each, it follows Ricardo (Rodrigo de la Serna), El Pollo (Diego Alonso), Walter (Ariel Staltari) and El Chiqui (Franco Tirri), four young people who occupy a house in the Congreso neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Their shared squat becomes a fragile home and a source of loyalty, and the friendship between them pulls them through a run of petty schemes, drug dealing and encounters with the city's violent underside. Each episode is built from concrete street-level situations, such as scrapes with dealers, money needed to get by and the pressure of living without legal footing. The series is set in the year 2000, a moment of economic strain in the country, and its tone is gritty yet tender, with camaraderie carrying the story through hardship. Viewers who appreciate the raw youth portraits of Trainspotting and the marginal Latin American crime world of City of God will find resonance here, along with the bleak, character-driven grit of Breaking Bad.
