## Synopsis

Mahabharat (2013-2014) is an Indian mythological drama series broadcast on StarPlus and created by Siddharth Kumar Tewary. Adapted from the ancient Sanskrit epic, it centers on the Pandava brothers, with Arjuna (Shaheer Sheikh) as the principal hero and Draupadi (Pooja Sharma) at the heart of the family's fortunes. Shri Krishna (Saurabh Raj Jain) guides the story from the margins, while Bhishma (Arav Chowdhary) and Karna (Aham Sharma) embody the weight of duty and loyalty. The engine of the series is the rivalry between the Pandavas and their cousins, the Kauravas, whose schemes over land, honor and the kingdom of Hastinapur escalate step by step toward open war. Told across twenty-eight seasons and 267 episodes of roughly twenty minutes each, it unfolds as one continuing saga in which every episode advances a larger arc of intrigue, exile and sacrifice. The atmosphere is grand and devotional, with lavish period costume, royal courts and forest exile, and the tone mixes solemnity with melodramatic family feeling. Fans of Ramayana and the sprawling dynastic scale of Game of Thrones will find resonance here, though the series keeps its focus on dharma, obligation and the moral cost of kinship.
