## Synopsis

Faking It (2014-2016) is an American teen comedy series created by Dana Goodman and Julia Lea Wolov for MTV. Best friends Amy Raudenfeld (Rita Volk) and Karma Ashcroft (Katie Stevens) have spent years failing to win popularity at their high school. After they are mistakenly outed as lesbians, the sudden celebrity status is more than they expected, and seduced by the attention, they decide to keep up a romantic pretense. The engine of the show is the widening gap between the fake relationship and the real feelings beneath it, with the friends' bond tested by a growing circle of classmates, crushes and rivals. Gregg Sulkin as Liam Booker and Bailey De Young as Lauren Cooper add romantic and social complications, while Michael J. Willett as Shane Harvey anchors the wider school world. The series runs three seasons across 38 episodes, a single-camera, episodic-leaning sitcom in which each episode spins a new social problem out of the central lie. Set in a contemporary American high school, it plays as a bright, breezy and frequently bold comedy with a warm, sincere heart about identity and friendship. Fans of Awkward., Degrassi: The Next Generation and Sex Education will find resonance here.
