## Synopsis

The Flash (2014-2023) is an American superhero series created by Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg for The CW, adapted from DC Comics. After crime scene investigator Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is struck by lightning and wakes from a nine-month coma with super speed, he joins the scientists at S.T.A.R. Labs, including Dr. Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and tech whiz Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), to become the Fastest Man Alive. His central wish is to protect his city, and the engine of the show is a steady stream of metahuman threats, supervillains and lab experiments that test his speed and his loyalties, while his personal life with Iris West (Candice Patton) and Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) keeps the stakes human. Across nine seasons and 184 episodes, it runs as a mostly serialized superhero saga with season-long arcs and recurring foes, dense with comic book spectacle. Set in present-day Central City, it leans into an earnest, warm, hopeful register built on friendship and family. Fans of Arrow, Smallville and Supergirl will find the same optimistic, team-driven superhero tone.
