## Synopsis

Ascension is a science fiction mystery limited series set aboard a sealed generation starship, the Ascension, launched in secret in 1963 by a covert government program. Its passengers, hundreds of men, women and children, were told they were on a century-long voyage toward a distant new world, and the story unfolds decades into that journey, long after the original mission's purpose has grown distant. A murder inside the closed community shatters the ship's fragile order and forces its leaders and ordinary residents to question what they were told about why they are travelling. The tone is cold, paranoid and claustrophobic, with a slow-burn investigative pace that favours whispered suspicion and institutional secrecy over spectacle. Its strength lies in intimate character moments set against a confined world where every corridor feels watched. Viewers who enjoy the political intrigue of Battlestar Galactica, the isolated society of The Expanse, or the mind-bending uncertainty of Westworld will find a similar pull. It is a compact, tense puzzle about faith, control and the cost of living a lie inside a machine built to outlast its makers.
