## Synopsis

Surviving Jack (2014) is a American family sitcom created by Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker for FOX. Christopher Meloni plays Dr. Jack Dunlevy, a physician who finds himself at home as a stay-at-home father, while Rachael Harris stars as his wife Joanne Dunlevy. Their children, Frankie (Connor Buckley) and Rachel (Claudia Lee), are the source of much of the comic friction, as the household juggles schoolyard politics, growing pains, and the daily upheavals of suburban life. The engine of the show is the gap between Jack's professional pride and the mundane demands of raising kids, with each episode built from small domestic crises and the awkward negotiations of a marriage shifting its roles. Set in 1990s California, the series leans on period texture and a pre-internet sense of childhood and adolescence, giving it a nostalgic yet knowingly self-deprecating register. Its tone is warm, breezy, and wry, with a sitcom rhythm that favors gentle jokes over cynicism. Fans of Mr. Mom, Home Improvement and The Middle will find resonance in its blend of parental mishap and affectionate family comedy. The single season of eight episodes ran only briefly before its cancellation.
