## Synopsis

Haikyu!! (2014-2020) is a Japanese animated sports series produced by Production I.G for MBS, TBS and other Japanese networks, adapted from the manga by Haruichi Furudate. Shoyo Hinata (voiced by Ayumu Murase) is a small but fiercely determined boy who starts a volleyball club after being inspired by a tiny pro player, and his rival Tobio Kageyama (voiced by Kaito Ishikawa) is a gifted setter who beat him badly in middle school. The engine of the show is Hinata's vow to surpass Kageyama while the two are forced to play together on the same high school team, and each match, practice and tournament pushes them to learn how to work as a unit. Its four seasons across eighty-five episodes follow a single continuing story of training camps, rival schools and national-level tournaments, with each match stretched across several episodes. Characters such as captain Daichi Sawamura (Satoshi Hino) and setter Koshi Sugawara (Miyu Irino) round out the club. The tone is earnest, warm and energetic, with comedic team banter balanced by real competitive stakes and a bittersweet sense of youth passing. Fans of Kuroko's Basketball, Slam Dunk and Yowamushi Pedal will find resonance in its underdog sports spirit and camaraderie.
